Aygestin

Mechanism of Work
Aygestin is a medicine aimed at treating female disorders with menstruation. Also this drug can be used as uterine problems treatment. Usually Aygestin is taken in case of abnormal bleeding and endometriosis; however it can be used to treat other conditions.

Dosage
You can take this drug either with or without meals. It’s important to follow your regular dosage and do not make gaps between your doses longer than 24 hours. We recommend taking this medicine every day at almost the same time. Usually optimal dosage is determined by doctor.

Missed Dose
In case you forget to take your Aygestin dose, take it as soon as you remember about it. Note taking two doses at the same time is prohibited, so if it's almost time for your next dose, you should skip the one you have missed.

Additional Information
Some people feel dizzy after Aygestin. Make sure you don't perform any unsafe tasks (e.g. driving) until you are not sure of the drug’s reaction on you. Sharing your drug with other people is prohibited. Aygestin cannot be used to treat other health conditions apart from those prescribed by your doctor. If you feel worse after taking Aygestin or you don’t feel any improvement, contact your health care specialist.

Storage
This drug should be stored at a room temperature (approx. 68 – 77 °F or 20 – 25 °C). Make sure you keep container with drug away from light, moisture and heat. Storing this drug in bathroom is prohibited. The medicine should be kept in a place out of the reach of children or pets.

Warnings and Precautions
Note some medical conditions require adjusting your Aygestin dosage. Make sure you tell your doctor or health care provider if you have or have had any of the following: diabetes, asthma, seizures or epilepsy, kidney problems, allergies to drugs and other substances, migraines, heart or liver problems, or depression.

This drug cannot be used by pregnant women or those who plan to become pregnant. Also it shouldn’t be used during breast-feeding period as Aygestin is found in breast milk. Make sure you discuss all possible risk to your baby if treatment course is clearly important.

This drug can be the reason for dark patches at your face. Sunbathing is prohibited during treatment course. You should also avoid tanning booths and sunlamps. If you plan to stay outside for a long time, wear protective clothes.

Some drugs may interact with Aygestin, so it’s important to tell your doctor of all drugs you currently use including diet supplementary and herbal preparations.

Aygestin cannot be used to treat unknown vaginal bleedings; females with history of blood clots, genital cancer, breast cancer, stokes or severe liver problems usually are restricted to use this medicine.

This drug should not be prescribed for children as its action on this age group is uncertain.

Side Effects
